Above All Things

In devotions this week a Scripture touched my spirit in a unique way so I begin to meditate upon what the Lord had brought my attention. It was a powerful statement given by the Holy Ghost through the Apostle Peter in his First Book – 1 Peter 4:7-8 “The end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore Sober, and Watch unto Prayer. And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.” I began to think upon “First Things.”  For this Passage of Scripture seem to say to me; “Here are some things that need to be brought into order as I prepare to come.” We have heard that Jesus will return, it is written in Scripture and it is the Christian’s great Hope. Yet all around us in Christianity it doesn’t seem that there is an expectancy of Jesus Coming.  We know this, but we need a Passion that will desire Him to return.
Peter proclaims “The end is at hand.”  He exhorts the Body of Christ several things, and to “have Charity among themselves!”  As we make ready for the return of our Saviour, Jeremiah gives a strong warning which we will consider in our Message today. Jeremiah 17:9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”   James 5:12 Exhorts usAbove all things beware lest ye fall into condemnation.”  And in the Third Book of John, John speaks to the Elder Gaius, he calls him “Beloved, and wishes above all things that he prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth!” There many many things to think on as we muse on the term “Above all things!” And then to add to our Meditation this stirring Truth, “The end of all things is at hand. O Yes dear saints Jesus is Coming Soon!  The signs of the time are prominent and every day they loom even larger! And while satan stirs a storm against us, Jesus makes ready for the sound of His Father’s trumpet when it shall sound and we hear ... “Come up hither!”  Above all things may we be Sober, Watchful and in Prayerful Communication. Loving You, Pastor
